Grampian's Past

For over 6 thousand years people have left evidence of their use of the land. As well as the visible remains there are also many hidden archaeological sites which are revealed under particular conditions and at certain times in the year.

This 80-page hard-back book, containing 121 colour plates, is a collection of vivid aerial photographs taken by the Archaeological Service for the Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) over 20 years. The publication of such compelling images of past landscapes contributes to the understanding of the archaeology of this region.
