Please note that the online Sites and Monuments Records (SMRs) are not designed for use in development control, for assembling information for agri-enviroment schemes, nor for constructing management policy of the sites. In order to source the full SMR information required for such studies all consultants should approach the Service directly at The Archaeology Service, Woodhill House, Westburn Road, Aberdeen, AB16 5GB. A consultancy fee may be charged.

The Archaeology Service is consulted within the Planning and Environmental Services of the Council by a variety of people. The main commercial aspects of this consultation process can be broken down into the following four sections:

• Developers
• Farmers
• Forestry
• Pipelines and Utilities
• Metal Detectorists
• Landowners
