What qualifications and experience
do you need?
To qualify as an Accountant requires academic
study and structured practical training.
Combined, this will allow you to achieve your
Chartered Institute of Public Finance and
Accountancy (CIPFA) qualification.
A BA (Hons) Accounts and Finance degree
can be gained at universities across Scotland
Entry requirements include BBCC or the
equivalent and this should include Maths and
or English. A higher grade in Accounts can also
be beneficial.
In order to gain the full CIPFA qualification you will have to gain the relevant training and experience. This can be achieved through your place of employment.
Aberdeenshire Finance usually offers
a traineeship each year for the CIPFA
qualification. As a trainee, you would be
involved with a variety placements within
various sectors of the Finance service,
attendance to college / university courses also
home study.
Alternatively, we offer opportunities in the finance service for those who do not want to take the academic training route. Our very own Kevin Fowlie, joined the Finance Service for this major career challenge after leaving school. He has since trained with the Aberdeenshire Finance Service and gained his AAT Accounting Qualifications.
