Career in Trades & Apprenticeships
Are you interested in learning new skills to
become a fully qualified tradesperson?
Are you a time-served tradesperson looking for
a fresh challenge?
If yes, then Aberdeenshire Council has a host of
opportunities for individuals wishing to enter
this type of employment.
We are continually involved in a wide range
of projects across the Aberdeenshire area
and we require a large team of tradespeople to
complete these projects.
We also look after and maintain property and
facilities across Aberdeenshire, all requiring the
skills of different tradespeople. A selection of
trades, which we employ include:
- Carpenter/Joiner
- Plumber
- Electrician
- Roofer/Slater
- Bricklayer/Builder
What qualifications and experience do you need?
If you are aged between 16 and 24 and
you want to get involved with a modern
apprenticeship we advise you get in touch
with either the S.E.C.T.T , the S.N.I.P.E.F or the
CITB.
Different application stages to the CITB:
- Contact your local CITB – www.beconstructive.co.uk.
- Complete an application form either online or manually.
- Complete some simple assessments ensuring your suitability to your desired apprenticeship.
- Aberdeenshire Council and other employers contact the CITB when apprentices are required and are advised on a suitable pool of candidates.
- If we decide to employ you, CITB will arrange a meeting to discuss training plans and terms of employment.
- CITB Construction Skills will manage the training part of your employment. You will be required to spend time in college and time gaining work experience with Aberdeenshire Council.
- Completing these stages will help you on your way to carrying out a modern apprenticeship.
Future Career Opportunities
After completing your work experience and
training you will gain recognised certification in
your respective trade, allowing you to practice
wherever you want.
In an era where there is a higher competition for work opportunities, the high demand for tradesmen means you can be sure to find a suitable opening for you.
