Does outdoor physical work interest you?
If Yes.
Aberdeenshire has a wide range of positions
to offer both school leavers and those with
experience.
We are responsible for providing a wide range
of services to the public and we need you to
help us provide those services.
Positions include:
- Driver
- Labourer
- Plant Operative
- Gardener/Gravedigger
- Road Worker
- Quarry Operative
- Landfill Site Operative
- Litter Patrol Operative
- Street Sweeper
- Refuse Loader
- Refuse Driver
Duties usually involve the following:
- Use of equipment and tools
- Driving people or supplies
- Operating Council vehicles
- Street sweeping
- Grounds and roads maintenance
- Day-to-day supervision of others
- Organisation squad work
- Operating heavy plant
- LGV driving
What qualifications and experience do you need?
Most of our outdoor working opportunities
require little or no qualifications or experience
with the exception of a driving licence.
We will offer you in-house training on basic
and technical skills needed to carry out
certain jobs. There will be opportunity to
refresh this training, allowing you to build on
your skills and knowledge, and gain new skills.
Certificates and skills vary from job to job and
may include:
- Driving Licence
- Chain Saw Operator Certificate
- Kerb Saw Operator Certificate
- Health & Safety Site Certificates
- LGV Driver Licence
- Certificate for Handling and Spraying Pesticides
- Fork Lift Certificate
- SVQ 2/3 in Horticulture
Benefits for choosing a career in outdoor working
As well as the benefits of working in an
active outdoor environment there can be
opportunities for additional work, e.g. in
periods of bad weather when workers need
to be deployed outwith normal hours. This
type of work is paid at enhanced rates.
