What is Kickstart?

Kickstart is an off-road trials motorbike project run by the Aberdeenshire (North) Youth Strategy/Justice Team. We use 125/250cc trials bikes and quads for young people with disabilities.

Operating from premises in Strichen and using three tracks:

Its own private track at New Hope Trust, Peterhead (North)
A public track at Hill of Cotburn, Turriff (North)
A private track near Oldmeldrum (Central)

Our track in Peterhead is in Partnership with the New Hope Trust . The New Hope Trust is a local charity working locally and internationally for people in need.

Who is Kickstart for?

Any young person, 14+ years, experiencing disruption in their lives.

Each group is a maximum of six young people. Each group is six sessions. Each session lasts 1½ hours plus travel time.

What are Kickstart’s Aims?

Providing a positive experience for young people, enhancing their self-esteem and providing a transferable skill.

How do I get Referred?

Social workers or teachers refer you to Kickstart. Grampian Police and charities such as Barnados can also refer you.

Your referrer arranges your transport to and from the track.

How is Kickstart Funded?

Kickstart is funded by the Social Work Service. We also received funds from New Opportunities Funding (NOF), Community Safety Partnership and the Scottish Executive for Youth Justice Projects.

Grampian Police support this project.
