Parental Involvement Strategy

The proposals outlined in the Aberdeenshire Parental Involvement Strategy
are far reaching and set the direction in how we engage with parents and carers
in Aberdeenshire to successfully achieve the highest level of achievement for
children and young people. In this document the term 'young people' refers to
those aged 15 years or younger.

It is essential that we gather a wide range of views from the various
customers across Aberdeenshire, and as such you are encouraged to complete the
attached consultation questionnaire. Responses will be considered by the
Parental Involvement Strategy Group to affect change for parental involvement
across Aberdeenshire. The Education, Learning & Leisure Service would very
much appreciate you taking the time to complete the questionnaire.

To take part in this consultation, please read the Parental Involvement
Strategy document (available below as a PDF) and then click on the Survey
Monkey link at the bottom of the page to begin the survey.

The consultation process will be completed by the end of 2010. Following
this a report will be presented to the Education, Learning & Leisure
Committee.

Consultation Period

15/03/2010 - 28/05/2010

Result

A paper on the results of the consultation went before Aberdeenshire Council's
Education, Learning & Leisure committee in August (see attached results &
report) and feedback will be given to the Parental Strategy Group and Parent
Focus Group.

Key Outcomes and Actions:

Use the nine key elements as the basis for future Parental Involvement Policies
for Aberdeenshire.

Ensure that the delivery of the strategy be continued.

Bring forward a progress report to Committee in a years time.

Review training for the recruitment and selection procedure.
