Property Undergoing Major Repair

When a property is vacant due to alteration or major repair it may be exempt from Council Tax for a period of up to 12 months.

The exemption will start from the date the property alterations or repairs commenced.

Alternatively a period of 50% discount may be awarded if you become the owner of a property which is the need of major repair, where:

• The work has started but it is over 12 months since the property was last occupied
• The work has not yet started
