Balmedie Country Park
On the coast east of the village of Balmedie 8 miles north of Aberdeen on the A 90 road to Peterhead and Fraserburgh. The park is well signed from the A90.
The park is open during the hours of daylight every day of the year.
The beach is sandy and over the years has won a number of awards.
The park is within part of a dune system that stretches 14 miles from Aberdeen to just north of the mouth of the River Ythan at Newburgh.

At the back of the beach is a substantial area of sand dunes where the principal vegetation is marram grass but which also contain a range of other plants at home in this type of environment.
Two watercourses make their way to the sea within the area covered by the park creating ribbons of wetland vegetation along their course.
On the landward side of the dunes is an area of stable grassland where the car parks and picnic benches are situated.
The park contains ample parking and also two public toilet blocks. One toilet block in the North Car Park is open all year round and includes facilities for the disabled.
A total of 1700 metres of boardwalk assist visitor access through the dunes.
Picnic tables and childrens play equipment are situated within the park.
The park is often used by horse riders as a starting / finishing point for beach rides,
It should be noted that the use of any motorised vehicle on the dune area is prohibited both as a measure for dune protection and also for safety reasons. The sand dunes are a relatively fragile and easily damaged area.
Barbecues may be hired at a cost of £10 by individuals or by groups during the period April to September inclusive subject to availability, contact 01467 628261 or email email@example.com Marquees (not supplied) may be erected on one barbecue site for an additional fee of £30. Corporate bookings are welcome.
Following a car park charges review across Aberdeenshire, The Infrastructure Services Committee agreed the following amendment.
For a trial period compulsory Pay & Display charges will not apply at this car park. Instead we ask that visitors make a voluntary donation, all donations received will go towards the maintenance and development of this Country Park.
Current annual expenditure for this Country Park is around £90,000
Donations will be accepted in the existing machines and your support is greatly appreciated.
