Loudspeakers in the street

The use of loudspeakers in the streets is banned between 9pm and 8am (the police, ambulance and fire brigade are exempt).

Local authorities can license use outside these hours, for example for entertainment but not for advertising purposes or electioneering.

Vehicles selling perishable foods may use loudspeakers between 12 noon and 7pm and these times can be varied with local authority consent. If you have a complaint about loudspeakers or chimes contact us.

Report noise nuisance to us via the Noise app. The app lets anyone within Aberdeenshire to record evidence of noise onto their smartphones and submitting it to the council.
