News from Aberdeenshire EPS for the Summer Term
North Team:
One of our Educational Psychologists has just completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Autism Studies from the University of Strathclyde.
Central Team:
Two of our EP's have just finished a piece of research that is part of the National Professional Development Programme on the application of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in Secondary Schools. The aim of the CBT approach in Secondary Schools is to provide the opportunity to young people to change the way in which they think and view events in their life and therefore help them to deal with them more positively and independently in the future.
South Team:
In February one of our EP's joined a group of educators from all over Scotland on a Learning and Teaching Scotland study visit to the International Centre for the Enhancement of Learning Potential in Jerusalem to learn about the work of Professor Reuven Feuerstein. Professor Feuerstein and his team provided a series of lectures to explain his theory of learning and how it is being applied through the Instrumental Enrichment and Dynamic Assessment programmes. For more information on this please see our Current Projects page.
Service News:
Aberdeenshire EPS hosted a very successful Open Day on the 5th June 2009 at Woodhill House. This event was open to psychology graduates, Trainee Educational Psychologists and Assistant Educational Psychologists across Scotland. The programme was designed to give those attending an insight into the exciting and innovative research projects currently being undertaken by Aberdeenshire EPS.
