The work of the Food Safety Section covers a wide range of food related issues to protect the health of all consumers living in, working in and visiting Aberdeenshire.
It is the aim of the Food Safety Section to ensure that all food offered to the public is safe for consumption and that all premises where food is supplied, manufactured, stored, prepared or sold are constructed and operated in a hygienic manner.
What We Do
- We inspect most types of food premises
- We investigate food complaints
- We carry out food sampling to make sure food is free from contamination, contains the correct ingredients and is labelled properly.
- We investigate cases of food poisoning
- We respond to consumer concerns regarding unhygienic and dirty food premises
- We provide food hygiene training for businesses, voluntary groups and individual consumers.
- We provide advice, guidance and education to the general public and food businesses.
