Eat Safe Award

Eat Safe AwardA new award for Scottish caterers was launched on 20 January 2005 by the Food Standards Agency Scotland.

The Eat Safe Award is open to any food business where the public can buy and consume food on the premises, however, the award will only be given to establishments that go beyond current food legislation requirements and meet the highest standards of hygiene.

Eatsafe award given to staff at Sodexho, St FergusThe criteria for the award is stringent and is not based on taste, décor or service and businesses will not be rewarded for merely meeting their legal obligations.

Premises entitled to display the Eat Safe certificate and use the Eat Safe logo will require to attain and maintain a consistently excellent hygiene record.

Eatsafe award for Celebration, in TurriffEligible establishments will be assessed for the Eat Safe award by local food enforcement officers as part of the scheduled food hygiene inspection programme. Food businesses are not allowed to apply for this award.

The issue and control of Eat Safe awards is the responsibility of Aberdeenshire Council Environmental Health Service and all certificates are reviewed at every planned inspection.

Over 80 Eat Safe awards have been presented throughout Scotland with 9 in place within Aberdeenshire.
