Homeless Prevention Assessment

If you contact us for advice or help about homelessness you will be put in touch with your local housing office. We will make you an appointment to see a housing officer (prevention).

The housing officer will do an assessment to help decide the best actions for your particular circumstances. This may be help to look at options to prevent your homelessness, or where it cannot be prevented, you will be offered a homeless interview.

Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme

We run a Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme to help individuals, couples or families renting in the private sector.

The scheme aims to help people who cannot provide a deposit and where one of the following criteria applies:

  • aged 16 years and over and may be homeless, or at risk of homelessness, and have received homelessness advice or assistance
  • assessed as living in below tolerable standard accommodation
  • assessed as having a high medical priority
  • have not accrued a debt through the scheme in the past

Citizen's Advice Bureau can give you advice on handling problems with your landlord and help to avoid losing your home.
