Homelessness Assessment

We have a legal duty to carry out an homelessness assessment. The assessment looks at:

  • whether you are homeless, or are about to become homeless or it is not possible for you to stay in your home
  • whether or not you are intentionally homeless
  • whether or not you have a local connection with Aberdeenshire

 

Your options housing officer will tell you about the homelessness assessment process. We aim to reach a final decision on each application within 28 days. This gives us enough time to make the necessary enquiries to check your homeless circumstances properly. We will keep you regularly informed on the progress of your application.

If you have been assessed as homeless, temporary accommodation will be provided if needed.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your application, you have the right to request a review. The review process is explained within your homelessness decision letter.
