Not everyone on a low income can apply for Housing Benefit.
Universal Credit is being introduced and replaces a number of state benefits, including Housing Benefit, for working age people. It is being phased in, so you may currently still to be eligible for the existing benefits.
But if you're in receipt of Universal Credit you'll get one monthly payment direct to your bank account. This includes an amount for the rent and any eligible service charges you're due. You'll be responsible for paying your full rental charge to us.
In some circumstances, the housing costs included in your Universal Credit are paid direct to your landlord. The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will tell you if this is the case.
