The creation of a single police service in Scotland in April last year meant that there was a need tochange the way that the police in Scotland would be held to account. An independent body called the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) was established. The current Commissioner is Professor John McNeill.

Update on traffic management in Macduff

The A98 Shore Street in Macduff has reopened to single-lane traffic today under traffic lights. The road had been closed to traffic in the interest of public safety to allow for the demolition of the Highland Haven Hotel following a serious fire in October.
