Aberdeenshire Council's Active Communities team deliver clubCAP, a quality assurance scheme. This provides a development tool for sports clubs which enables them to demonstrate good practice in how they operate.
clubCAP scheme has two accreditation levels:
The four areas where evidence is required to achieve either the standard or enhanced level are:
- Club Management
- Equity and Ethics
- Coaching Programme
- Duty of Care and Protection
Benefits of clubCAP
The scheme enables clubs to continuously benefit through improvements internally and also via a number of other areas identified through assessment and accreditation.
Further gains are derived from the support and guidance provided to clubs throughout the clubCAP process.
A survey of clubs who have undertaken clubCAP, showed the majority agreed they are in a stronger position having completed accreditation.
National Governing Body Schemes
A number of Scottish and British governing bodies of sport operate their own club accreditation schemes.
If your club is not accredited you should in the first instance contact your governing body to find out if the governing body (NGB) have their own scheme.
Dovetailing of these awards has been undertaken with a number of NGB's to allow clubCAP accreditation to be transferred with minimal duplication.
