Aberdeenshire Libraries provides free access to a number of online reference resources.
All can be used on the computers in our libraries and on your own device in libraries with wi-fi. Many of these can be used from home by library members and this is indicated at the resource.
Oxford Dictionary of National Biography - biographies of notable UK people who have shaped British history
Who's Who and Who was Who - biographies of noteworthy and influential people who have or have had an impact on British life.

Oxford Dictionaries - online English dictionary, thesauruses and grammar guides
Oxford English Dictionary - meanings, history or pronunciation of more than 600,000 words. A definitive record of the English language.

Theory Test Pro - simulation of the UK's car, HGV, PCV and motorcycle driving theory tests. You must sign up and create a username and password to use this resource.
Library access: Click on the 'Sign In Tab' and enter your email address and password
Home access: Click on the 'Sign In' Tab and enter your email address, your password and your library membership card number .

OUP Very Short Introductions - a selection of ten e-book titles on topics such as contemporary art, history, nutrition and politics which can be accessed from the full collection

Britannica Online - There are 3 encyclopaedias with age appropriate material from child-friendly to adult learning.

World Book - Age appropriate online encyclopaedias with articles, images, audio and video, delivering good quality information

Access to Research - Over ten million academic articles and research on subjects including art, architecture, business, engineering, history, languages, politics, philosophy, mathematics and the sciences.
British Newspapers Archive - Archive of digitised British and Irish newspapers from 1710 to 1955, including Aberdeen, Banffshire and Stonehaven Journals. You need to register in order to obtain free access.
Fraserburgh Herald - searchable archives of the newspaper from 1884 to 1920

Newsbank - search and browse current and archived news articles from UK national and Scottish newspapers

Scran - quality images, sounds, movies and learning resources representing Scottish culture and history
Library access: Choose the name of the library you are at the drop down list.
