If you are blind or partially sighted, there are some services in Aberdeenshire libraries that may be of interest to you and improve your access to library materials and resources.
Large Print Books
- All Aberdeenshire libraries offer a selection of books in large print. These include fiction by popular authors and a variety of non-fiction titles.
Talking Books
- Audio talking books are available in libraries on cassette and CD. These can be borrowed free of charge. Have a look to see which new talking books have been added to stock.
Large Keyboards
- Large keyboards which have keys that are much larger than standard keyboards are available in all the libraries.
Software
- Magnifying software which magnifies the text to make it easier to read
- Narrator software reads the text for you
National Library for the Blind
- The RNIB National Library Service offers a free library service for visually impaired people, which includes an extensive collection of braille books, small collection of large print and audio books and online reference services.
