Exhibitions
Broomend of Crichie excavation
Northeast examples of bronze age weapons, stone balls and flint tools as well as a Pictish Stone.
Aberdeenshire Heritage is also delighted to have on loan from the National Museum of Scotland finds from last year's archaeological excavation, conducted by a team from Reading University, of the Broomend of Crichie Henge and Stone Circle, Port Elphinstone.
Alison Sheridan - Principal Curator of Early Prehistoric Collections at the National Museum of Scotland, on the right, with Linda James - Curatorial Assistant at the Carnegie Museum and Nigel Healey who discovered the smaller of the two urns enjoy a close up look at two of the amazing archaeological discoveries.
The finds - two complete Early Bronze Age cremation urns, in excellent condition, and a 150 year old 'message in a bottle' buried at the site by a group of antiquarians who excavated the site in 1855. This is a not-to-be-missed chance for people to see recently discovered examples of local archaeology in their local museum.
Also photo display showing the construction and opening of the bridge at Inverurie in 1924/25 and local history exhibits.
