Woodview Heritage Project
The Woodview Heritage Project was a joint Heritage and Social Work initiative, and was officially launched by Fiona Kennedy in Jan 2006. The first part of the scheme which involved local adults with special needs was to put together a huge patchwork quilt, with each part illustrating a different aspect of the areas culture and heritage. The second part of the scheme produced an exhibition on some of the Mearns' famous people. Robert Burns, whose family came from the area, and Robert Thomson, the inventor of the pneumatic tyre, are both covered.
Replicas of the Scottish Crown Jewels which were 'spirited' away from Dunnottar Castle during Oliver Cromwells siege of the castle which were also made during the project are also on display.
