Bervie Braes Stonehaven evacuation - update 10th March 2010

10th March 2010

Aberdeenshire Council is continuing to monitor the situation at the Bervie Braes, Stonehaven.

Forecasts for the rest of the week remain encouraging, with only cloud and very light rain expected, and it is hoped that groundwater levels will fall.

However, the risk level remains high at present and there is no change in the council’s advice that residents do not yet return to their homes.

People who have chosen to return to their homes have been asked to stay vigilant and report any changes on the Braes or to their personal circumstances to the local authority.

Barriers and signage remains in place advising walkers to stay off the slopes for their own safety.

The helpline remains open for any residents who need help or support and can be contacted on: 08456 08 12 06.

The situation will continue to be monitored and a further update will be issued tomorrow (Thurs, Mar 11).
