Bervie Braes residents urged to remain vigilant
11th March 2010
Residents of the Bervie Braes in Stonehaven who have chosen to return home are being asked to remain vigilant and to be prepared to leave their homes at short notice should conditions worsen.
The Braes and weather conditions have been constantly monitored since the evacuation advice was issued on Thursday 25 February 2010.
Although water levels remain high, they are now reducing, there have been no further slips, the weather has been dry and the forecast is good.
The risk level at the Braes remains at ‘Level 3’, as it has been since the beginning of February. This means that water levels are still high enough to cause instability. They will continue to be monitored daily and further advice issued if required.
The helpline that was set up to provide additional support during the evacuation will now close at 5pm tomorrow (Fri, Mar 12).
However, anybody requiring advice can contact the Kincardine and Mearns Area Office on (01569) 762001 during office hours.
Aberdeenshire Council will be contacting residents by letter to inform them of the current position.
If the situation changes residents will again be contacted, and information will be made available to the media and through the Aberdeenshire Council website www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk
Aberdeenshire Council would like to thank the residents of Stonehaven for their co-operation and patience over the past fortnight.
