Stonehaven swimming pool to reopen ahead of schedule
20th February 2013
The swimming pool at Stonehaven Leisure Centre will reopen to the public tomorrow (Thursday, 21 February) two days ahead of schedule.
The swimming pool was closed on Thursday 14 February following a failure in essential plant equipment.
It had been anticipated that the pool would remain closed until Saturday 23 February while part of the pool plant was dismantled to allow repairs to be made.
Work has now been completed and staff are now in the process of heating the water ahead of the swimming pool reopening tomorrow.
The council’s Head of Service for Lifelong Learning and Leisure, John Harding, said: “I am happy to announce that we are able to reopen the swimming pool earlier than anticipated after repairs were successfully completed.
“We have been contacting local swimming groups to keep them informed of the issues, and arrange for alternative facilities to be provided where possible.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused to users of the swimming pool.”
