Aberdeenshire Coastal Path

The Aberdeenshire Coastal Path is part of an ambitious scheme to create a series of paths around the North Sea Coast known as the North Sea Trail.
The North Sea Trail is being created with the help of funding from the Nave Nortrail Project which is partly funded by the European Union under the Interreg 3b North Sea Programme and has run from 2003 to 2007.
Aberdeenshire Council is the lead partner in an international consortium of local authorities and non government organisations from Scotland, England, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden and The Netherlands who are taking part in the project
The North Sea Trail will give the opportunity to experience the variety of coastal landscapes that surround the North Sea. In Aberdeenshire the path allows people to explore dramatic cliffs, windswept beaches and sheltered coves.
Aberdeenshire Council Planning and Environment Services has produced a guide and series of maps showing the waymarked trail.
At the present time, (Spring 2007), not all of the route is waymarked but as the remaining sections are completed, the maps will be updated.
The maps are available to download from this website and will also be available from coastal Tourist Information Centres
