Expedition Approval Request
1. All D of E Expeditions operated by Aberdeenshire Council require prior approval from the Head of Establishment. Before a D of E Expedition can be approved, the expedition plans will be subject to two levels of checks:
- Quality Assurance checks from Aberdeenshire Council’s D of E team to ensure that the planned expedition meets with the requirements of the D of E Expedition section.
- Health & Safety checks from Adventure Scotland, who are Aberdeenshire Council’s Adventurous Activities Consultants.
2. This completed form should be submitted electronically along with attachments to:

3. (a) For Expeditions to Normal Country
Complete Parts A and Part B of this form.
(b) For expeditions to Wild Country (as defined in the Handbook for D of E Leaders):
Complete PART A ONLY of this form PLUS Notification form for Expeditions in Wild Country (Green) form
NB: Although Bronze and Silver level expeditions in wild country are not expressly forbidden, the Gold level Expedition Training Framework must be used
Attach a copy of the green form to the application
Send the original copy of the green form to the D of E Expedition Co-ordinator. Please refer to:

4. Maps and route cards should be attached showing the route planned, indicating Start and Finish points (and planned times), Campsite(s) (and times of planned arrival and departure), also any identified alternate or emergency routes.
