Instrumental Music Service Ensembles

Music Centres

LogoAberdeenshire Council provides a comprehensive music centre service, designed to meet the needs of pupils of all ages, from very young to advanced players. Junior groups meet on Saturday mornings in Stonehaven, Inverurie and Fraserburgh. Senior groups meet on Tuesdays and Fridays after school in Westhill and Mintlaw.

Senior Groups Auditions

  • SCAMC auditions were held at Westhill Academy on 19th March 2011 (2-4pm)
  • NCAMC auditions were held at Fraserburgh Academy on 7th May 2011 (10am-12pm)

Telephone Information Service

The Council operates a telephone information service normally used when Music Centres are affected by inclement weather. To hear an up-to-date message from the Music Centre Administrator please use the Telephone Information Service. To access the service dial 0870 054 4999 and enter the appropriate pin number.

Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra

Youth Orchestra HornsThe Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra will tour Belgium from 17th to 23rd June 2012.

Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra

Youth Music InitiativeThis Youth Music Initiative (YMI) funded ensemble is accessible to primary and secondary Saxophonists. Members are of approximately grade 3 level up to advanced players. It is free to all participants. Players make there own way to monthly rehearsals. The group performs in concerts several times a year led by Musical Director Richard Ingham, one of the most prominent Saxophone educators in the UK. Pupils wishing to join should contact the Instrumental Music Service Coordinator, Justin Brook or make contact through their Instrumental Instructor.

Jazz Ensemble

Jazz EnsembleThis group meets for workshop sessions on selected Saturday mornings during term 4 of each year. The focus is on improvisation, style and genre within a small jazz ensemble. The workshops culminate in a concert performance in June. The group will also be involved in other performance collaborations during the academic year. This is open to primary and secondary pupils of grade 3 -8 standard and like all YMI programmes is free. Pupils wanting to participate should contact the Instrumental Music Service Coordinator, Justin Brook. Members make their own way to rehearsals.
