Pre-School Information
This Policy is new for admission in
2008-09.
Parents of children with birth dates 01.03.04 to 28.02.06 to be advised.
During Session 2008-09 Aberdeenshire Education, Learning & Leisure is offering pre-school education for all 3 and 4 year olds.
All 3 year olds become eligible for pre-school education at identified times after their third birthday.
Children with birth dates between 01.03.04 and 28.02.06 should view leaflets.
Choosing Pre-school Education for your child and Applying for Pre-School Education for your child. Applications for pre-school education for the academic year commencing August 2008 may be collected from the pre-school centre of your first choice. Parents will receive the offer letters for a pre-school education place on Thursday 5 June 2008.
It is expected that a child will access their pre-school entitlement in one centre during the week only. Split placements are not normally agreed unless recommended by an Educational Psychologist. Similarly once a child has commenced their pre-school or ante pre-school year, it would be expected that the child would remain in the same placement unless the family moves house, or an Educational Psychologist recommends a change.
Pre-school places are available in a variety of pre-school centres: local authority, private and voluntary. Pre-school education at specific playgroups and day nurseries in the private and voluntary sector is quality assured by Aberdeenshire Education, Learning & Leisure Service.
Further information about childcare and pre-school education options can be obtained from the Aberdeenshire Childcare Information Service on 0800 298 3330.
