The property occupies the footprint of a former stone cottage and features a pitched roofline, angled to create a sweeping elevation on approach. A sod roof planted with grass tussocks cut from the hillside makes the building nestle into its setting. A dramatic view is optimised with an expanse of glazing.

The judges commented that this is an exceptional design and is an exciting response to its dramatic location. It is wonderfully simple, and the roof slope responds well to the slope of the hill and ties into the landscape.
