Concessionary Travel
The Council recognises the special travel needs of older people and people with disabilities:
- Blue Badge Scheme which gives exemption from certain parking restrictions.
- Scotland-wide free bus travel for older and disabled people. Was introduced by the Scottish Executive on April 1st 2006
- TaxiCard scheme provides concessions for people who are not able to use conventional bus services.
- Scottish Blind Persons Travel Scheme this gives free travel to blind people on transport services throughout Scotland.
- Thistle Card scheme the Scottish Executive's aims to help people with learning and/or physical disabilities, people with dementia and people with epilepsy.
