Adverse Weather
The contractor / driver will use their discretion as to whether a road is passable or not.
Drivers may also abandon a morning journey and return all pupils to their pick-up point and into the care of a responsible person. When this is not possible the driver will place the pupil into the care of the Head Teacher on eventual arrival at school.

In the event of the journey to school being cancelled by the operator on the grounds of adverse weather conditions, the operator will not be responsible for conveying pupils home in the afternoon. In such circumstances, parents of pupils who normally travel on school transport are asked not to bring their children to school themselves.
Should parents ignore this advice and, at their own risk, choose to bring their children to school the parents then become responsible for conveying their children home again at the end of the school day, or earlier, if it becomes necessary to send all pupils home and close the school due to worsening weather conditions.
It is therefore essential that where a parent has ignored the above authority advice, and has chosen to take their child to school themselves, that the parent provides an available emergency address to which their child can be sent if the weather conditions deteriorate during the school day and it is subsequently decided to close the school.
The child will be sent to this emergency address when the parent is unable to reach the school, to collect their child, prior to the closure of the school. Please note that the available emergency address provided must be within easy safe walking distance of the school, taking into account prevailing weather conditions.
