Civil Partnership Registration

Civil Partnership Registration

A civil partneship notice has to be lodged with the Registrar in whose district the civil partnership is to take place. This must be done not less that 14 clear days before the date. You may, however, make provisional arrangements with the Registrar at an earlier date.

Ideally each party should deliver their own civil partnership notice to the Registrar but a relative or other person can deliver it on their behalf. However, both parties may be required to attend the Registrar's office to clear up any queries which may arise.

Aberdeenshire Council is happy to take bookings for Civil Partnership Ceremonies. While a civil partnership is not a marriage, the ceremony is expected to be seen as a symbol of a couple's commitment to each other. Please contact the local Registrar for further details.
