Civil Marriages

Welcome to our guide to arranging your Civil Marriage. Whether you choose to get married in one of our Registration offices, at one of the many approved venues throughout Aberdeenshire or a temporary approved venue, our experienced Registrars will be delighted to offer assistance and advice on any aspect of your forthcoming marriage.
When you have decided on a date and venue for your marriage, you should contact the appropriate Registration office to check availability as well as securing your booking with a £20 non-refundable deposit. To avoid any disappointment you should make your booking as soon as possible.
Registrars are only permitted to conduct non-religious ceremonies. Any music, readings, personal vows etc which forms part of the ceremony, must also be non-religious and is required to be approved by the Registrar prior to the marriage. Video recording of Civil Marriages may be permitted but are at the discretion of the Registrar.
Religious Marriages
For religious marriages couples must discuss their marriage arrangements with their chosen celebrant. The necessary paperwork should be submitted to the relevant Registration office in plenty of time to avoid any delays in issuing the Marriage Schedule.
