Report a defect

To report a defect, contact the Roads team by Phone, Email or Text Message.

We are responsible for the maintenance of:

• Roads (potholes)
• Street lighting
• Road drainage
• Road signs
• Verges
• Footpaths

The only roads that we do not maintain are Private Roads and Trunk Roads.

In the winter months we are also responsible for the Gritting of roads and Snow-clearing.

To ensure safe maintenance, we will operate a system of inspections (in line with the Code of Practice for Maintenance Management):

• busier routes on a monthly basis
• less busy routes on a six-monthly basis
• all street lighting on a fortnightly basis (during winter months)

Any defects are identified and repair works scheduled. There will be occasions when defects occur between inspections. Members of the public play an important role in notifying us of any defects.

Quarries

We operate three Quarries which supply both dry and coated construction materials.
