Youth Music Initiative

Youth Music Initiative was established by the Scottish Government in 2003.  Creative Scotland manages the annual £8 million fund for projects delivered by 32 local authorities, of which Aberdeenshire provides the second largest programme.  The YMI programme has two main purposes:

IMS - Instrumental Music Service Projects

Purpose: "To meet the Scottish Government's Primary 6 target ensuring that "every school pupils in Scotland is offered a year of free music tuition by the time they reach Primary 6"

Community - Arts Development Team Projects

Purpose: "For projects delivered beyond the P6 target he purpose is: to engage young people (of any school age) who otherwise would not participate in quality music making activities"
