appletonColourful and informative menus are available to all Aberdeenshire school pupils and parents. The menus are the culmination of work that involves ongoing recipe and menu planning.

The menus and current approach to school meal provision were introduced to all Primary and Special Schools in August 2005. Menus are planned centrally and nutritionally analysed on a weekly basis taking account of key nutrients that include calcium, iron and vitamins.

Aberdeenshire school menus meet the Scottish Government's HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS nutritional recommendations to have lower fat, lower saturated fat, lower sugar and lower salt.

A School Meal menu offers:

  • 2 hot main course choices.
  • ‘The Sandwich Tray’ providing a selection of items making it an excellent alternative to a home Pack lunch.strawberry
  • Baked Potato with a choice of filling is available daily as a main course meal.
    Salad, fresh fruit and pudding daily.
  • Soup is available at least once a week.
  • A selection of bread and milk or fruit juice are included with a school lunch meal.

The menus provided below are effective fromMonday 27th October, 2008. Please note that menu selections vary slightly according to the pupil roll at individual schools.

Current price and methods of payment

School meals are paid for by purchasing meal tickets in singles at £1.65 each or in books of ten costing £16.50 per book. Payment may be made in cash or by cheque made out to Aberdeenshire Council.
