Map Help
Introduction
The Aberdeenshire Council mapping tool allows you to view map specific information such as Housing Land Audit, Planning Applications, Electoral Wards.
Map Layers
There are two base layers available. The default is OS Basemap which shows our standard maps. The other basemap shows aerial photography.
To show the available layers click on the Map Layers button in the top right of the map area. Overlays can be switched on and off and will appear to float above the base layers. You can switch on multiple layers at the same time. By default, for the Housing Land Audit, that layer will be switched on. Some layers will only appear at certain zoom levels.
Zooming
The map can be zoomed in and out using a few different methods:
You can zoom in and out by using the plus and minus buttons to the left of the map, clicking on the sliding scale or clicking and dragging the slider.
You can use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out when the mouse is hovering over the map.
Hold down the shift key and click and drag an area to zoom in to that specific area.
Finally double clicking anywhere on the map will zoom in.
Panning
The map can be moved around using the pan tools on the left, click the arrows to move north, east, south and west.
Another method to move around the map is to click and hold on any area on the map and drag your mouse to move the map.
Clicking on Sites On the Map
Selecting highlighted sites on the map will display more information about that particular site below the map. The reference number for the site may be clickable which can show more information about the site.
