Aberdeenshire Community Asset Fund

Aberdeenshire Council and Scottish Enterprise

The Aberdeenshire Community Asset Fund has been drawn up to enable community organisations, large and small, to look at developing an asset or service that will give the organisation an ongoing income. The Fund is financed by Aberdeenshire Council and Scottish Enterprise.

Details of the fund are as follows:

  1. The fund can be used for; feasibility studies, consultants’ reports, business plans, purchase of plant and equipment and/or assets for the start of the venture. Pre-identified hours of in-house working can also be covered by the fund, but applicants will be expected to have other funding sources. In-kind support will be restricted to 20% of any project.

  2. Eligible applicants are social enterprises and community organisations that can demonstrate an enterprise proposal that will contribute towards the development of an asset and/or service to generate on-going revenue for the organisation.

  3. Maximum award will be £10,000 and the minimum will be £500.

  4. Only one award will be granted per project.

  5. Only one award will be granted to an organisation within any 6-month period.

  6. The fund will have to be matched by at least 50% of funding from other sources.

  7. The proposal must not have a detrimental effect on existing Aberdeenshire businesses.

  8. No employee of Aberdeenshire Council or Scottish Enterprise can promise assistance, as every case is discretionary.

  9. This fund is not available to fund existing assets, services nor existing organisational expenditure.

  10. Awards will not be made for retrospective applications.

  11. Each application is judged on its own merit and the Council’s decision is final.
