Grampian Food Forum Innovation Food Awards 2013
Twenty eight food and drink companies based in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen and Moray will battle for glory at the 23rd annual Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards, which rewards local companies for their new product innovations.
Companies who will participate in the final competition include: Alan Bruce Cakes, Associated Seafoods Ltd, Balmakewan Farm Shop, Baxters Food Group, Berry Scrumptious, Caber Coffee Limited, Castleton Farm Shop, Cocoa Ooze Limited, Dean’s of Huntly Ltd, Donald Russell Ltd, Fizzy Parties, Formartine’s Visitor Centre LLP, Gordon & MacPhail Retail, Haigs Food Hall, J G Ross (Bakers) Ltd, James Rizza & Sons Ltd, Kincardine Kitchen, Mackie’s of Scotland, Mackintosh of Glendaveny Ltd, Macphie of Glenbervie, Mitchells, Nino’s Masala and Fine Indian Cuisine, Ola Oils Ltd, Plenta Foods Limited, Simpsons Buckie Ltd, Speyside Specialities, The Green Grocer, The Smokehouse Aberdeenshire Ltd,
Judging will take place on Thursday 21st March 2013 at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, Pitfodels, Aberdeen. The judging panel will be led by Mr Peter Bruce, Managing Director of Entier Limited.
He said, “I am delighted to be involved in the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards 2013.
As an owner and the Managing Director of Aberdeen’s premier catering and hospitality company, having an array of local suppliers and food producers is very important to us. We pride ourselves in using quality local produce and innovation is what we need to differentiate ourselves in the market place.
I am looking forward to reviewing the 2013 entries and seeing some of the new products that are emerging to keep ourselves and the local food industry at the forefront of innovation.”
On the panel is Lorna Murray, Local Food Sourcing and Technical Manager for Asda in Scotland. Lorna’s role involves working with local suppliers to identify market opportunities and to deliver new high quality products to specific geographical areas.
On being invited to sit on the judging panel, Lorna said “I’m honoured to be involved in a process that promotes and encourages the very best of Scottish local suppliers in the North East.”
Joining them is Simon Cousins, series producer of Landward for BBC Scotland since 1994. Throughout his time on Landward, Simon says he has been ‘an unashamed supporter of Scotland’s great larder and the passionate people who produce it’.
