  Two hour-long seafood Masterclasses organised by Seafood Scotland (SFS), were delivered to packed audiences at the Foodies Christmas Festival in Edinburgh this weekend, as part of the ‘Eat More Fish’ campaign.
  
  
• Pre-sampling Avoids Capture of Juvenile Mackerel
  Electronic pre-sampling jigging machines recently fitted to all pelagic mid-water trawlers in Scotland and Shetland, have been invaluable in helping vessels to avoid capture of undersized mackerel.

  The first Stonehaven Real Ale Festival has been a runaway success with about 1,400 people flocking to the two-day event – and raising £3,500 for the town’s brave lifeboat crew in the process.

  An Aberdeenshire entrepreneur is urging people to think `green’ and local for festive gifts this year with the launch of a hamper company where all the produce is sourced from small producers within 40 miles of each other, and even the packaging is reusable and from sustainable sources.
  
  
• Hairy Bikers at the Milton Restaurant, Aberdeenshire
  Last night’s episode (29th September 2009) of the Hairy Bikers, Dave Myers and Si King was filmed at the Milton Restaurant, Aberdeenshire, competing against our Executive Chef David Littlewood. This was one of only 4 episodes filmed in Scotland, and the only one in the North East.

  Aberdeenshire Provost Bill Howatson presented a prestigious award to a north-east chip shop this month
  
  
• Royal Highland Show
  Food and drink produce from Aberdeen City and Shire was the star attraction at the recent Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, held between 25th June and 28th June.
