Animal Feed Business

If you make, use or market animal feeding-stuffs you will require to be registered with us. This includes most livestock farms and arable farms that grow, use or sell crops for feed as well as producers, hauliers and stores of feed.

Consumer Credit or Hire

If you offer credit or hire facilities (including credit brokers who arrange credit) you require a

Consumer Credit or Hire Licence.

 

Explosives

If you keep shotgun cartridges or fireworks for sale you will probably require registration under the Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations 2005. If you keep ammunition for small arms you may keep up to 15 kilogrammes of powder in the form of cartridges (at 1.62 grammes or 25 grains of powder per cartridge you can keep up to 9,260 without registration; at 2.72 grammes or 42 grains of powder per cartridge you can keep 5,500 cartidges without registration. The storage of other products such as motor vehicle air bag inflators or nail gun cartridges also requires registration but up to 5 kilogrammes can be stored without registration. This equates to around 14,000 DX cartridges (UN 0323) of 360mg charge and approximately 50 air bag inflators at 100grammes per inflator. Premises such as shops and similar outlets are subject to inspection by the service even when less than the minimum amounts are kept. Apart from four traditional firework celebration days the use of fireworks after 23:00 and before 07:00 is not permitted (Fireworks (Scotland) Regulations 2004). However, it is possible for professional display organisers to obtain a dispensation from the Council to hold displays after 23:00. Applications for Dispensations are decided by Area Committees.
