Animal Feed Business
The Feed (Hygiene & Enforcement) (Scotland) Regulations 2005 apply to all businesses that make, use or market animal feed. This includes most livestock farms and arable farms that grow, use or sell crops for feed as well as producers, hauliers and stores of feeding stuff.
These businesses are required to be registered or approved by the Local Authority subject to the exceptions below.
If you were registered under the previous Feeding Stuffs (Establishments & Intermediaries) Regulations 1999, you should have notified us that you were continuing your activities and should have complied with the standards of the new regulations from 1 January 2006.
For businesses not previously covered such as hauliers, arable farms or farms not mixing feeds, you had until 1 January 2008 to comply with the new regulations. You were then required to complete and return a statement of compliance confirming you now meet the requirements of the Regulations.
We have written to most affected businesses to seek these statements of compliance. However if you have not received a form and believe the regulations apply to your business you should complete and return the registration form below.
All feed businesses are subject to inspection visits and possible feed sampling in the future.
