Equality and Diversity

Aberdeenshire Council is committed to providing equal opportunity to all job applicants and employees. This means that applicants will have equal access to employment opportunities and as an employee equal access to promotion, training, and secondment.
The Council aims to provide equality of opportunity for all by
- being free of prejudice, discrimination, harassment and victimisation
- ensuring people's race, disability, gender, age, religion or sexual orientation does not disadvantage them
- involving, responding to and enabling those lacking equality of opportunity
- taking positive action where necessary
Guaranteed Job Interview Scheme
Aberdeenshire Council has a Guaranteed Job Interview Scheme (GJIS) for the purpose of increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
This scheme guarantees an interview for people with disabilities who meet the essential criteria for the job.
The application form therefore asks applicants with disabilities to indicate whether they wish to be considered for employment under the Guaranteed Job Interview Scheme
