Homecoming Scotland 2009 - Events Funding
Did you know that Homecoming's for us all to enjoy? You don't have to live far away to 'come home' or revisit places you've got connections to. Sure, there are big events to tempt folk to travel far but anyone in Scotland can feel part of the celebration (and help to boost tourism to boot) by re-making connections with people, places and interests.
Class reunions, a golf outing by your new club to your former club, a weekend visit from relatives who've moved away - this list is endless, and Homecoming 09 is a great excuse to re-establish links. Family, communities and society all stand to benefit from contact like that, so there's a great reason for clubs, groups and organisations to find a way to join in and create a real buzz around the idea next year.
And Aberdeenshire Council could help make organising your event even easier. Four of Aberdeenshire's areas have set aside some seed funding to encourage communities and their local groups to celebrate the Homecoming's themes - Burns; Clans and Ancestral Roots; Great Scottish Inventors and Innovators; Golf, and Whisky - by organising your own events, or by taking part in your local town's Heritage Fair.
Funding is available for individuals and groups in the in the Formartine, Garioch, Kincardine and Mearns, and Marr areas of Aberdeenshire
Please download and fill in the simple application form and return it to your area manager's office so that it can be assessed and reply given as soon as possible. Let's make the most of where we live and enjoy Homecoming 2009!
