Garden Waste Collections

Local environmental charity, Aberdeen Forward, is piloting a new garden waste recycling collection in several communities across Aberdeenshire as part of a new network of community composting sites.
Community composting involves a group of people setting up a shared composting system. The community provide the material for composting and benefit by having a way of disposing of their waste and access to free or low cost compost material for their gardens.
Benefits of this scheme are:
- charity run green waste collection scheme
- environmentally friendly service diverting waste from landfill
- garden waste composted locally, helping to reduce global warming
- kerbside collection every two weeks with a green waste bag supplied
- access to locally produced compost
- membership from £6 per year
If you live in one of the following locations you can sign up for the Aberdeenshire Community Composting Network and have regular garden waste collections from your door:
- Aboyne
- Benholm, Gourdon & Inverbervie
- Drumoak, Crathes & Banchory
- Johnshaven (village only)
- Methlick (village only)
- Oldmeldrum
- Peterhead
- Pitcaple, Whiteford & Chapel of Garioch
- St Cyrus
