Fly-tipping & Abandoned Cars

Fly-tipping
Fly-tipping is the illegal deposit of any waste onto land, e.g. rubbish dumped or tipped onto a site which is not licensed to accept waste. This is an offence under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 therefore anyone dumping waste in this manner is committing a serious offence and can be prosecuted. Dumped waste can affect us all, whether it is close to our homes or in the countryside that we visit, and it is up to everyone to do what they can to stop it. Please report instances of flytipping by using our online form.
Abandoned Cars
Abandoned Vehicles are not only a nuisance but also an eyesore. Under the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978 it is an offence to abandon a vehicle. If you suspect a car has been abandoned please report it using our online form or call the Wasteline 0845 600 3 900. From 1st Janaury 2007 car owners became entitled to "free take-back" of their End of Life Vehicles.
