Love Food Hate Waste
Over £1 billion worth of food is wasted by consumers in Scotland each year. That's an average of £430 per household. For hints, tips and recipes and a snazzy new iPhone App, visit Waste Aware Scotland's Love Food Hate Waste site. You can also try the UK Love Food Hate Waste site.
Missed Refuse or Recycling Collections
We will always do our best to avoid missing any of your refuse or recycling collections, but sometimes the winter weather, vehicle breakdowns or other circumstances can make that impossible. Please see our Missed Collections page for advice on what to do.
Find Your Recycling or Refuse Collection Time, Day, Week & Calendars
Just follow the link to our Collections page for advice on how to access collection calendars and how to use the Local Information Interactive Map to find out which day and week your refuse or recycling is collected. Alternatively, you can contact us with your address details.
Red Sack Cardboard Recycling
On rural four-weekly paper recycling routes, we are trialling a system of red sacks to return any brown cardboard you mistakenly put in your paper recycling bin. Please see our Red Sack page for full details.
Waste Aware Guide

'Room to Recycle' and other Waste Aware Campaigns
Aberdeenshire Council carries out a variety of Waste Aware campaigns as well as providing area and scheme specific information.
During 2010, our main waste awareness campaign is Room to Recycle.
The Room to Recycle campaign aims to raise awareness of the variety of recyclable items in each of the main rooms of your home (living room, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom) and what happens to them.
Other campaigns
You can see a selection of other waste aware campaigns and follow links to the national campaigns run by Waste Aware Scotland by visiting our campaigns page.
