Rural Communities Challenge Fund

The Aberdeenshire Local Action Group's Rural Communities Challenge Fund (RCCF) delivers funding from the Scottish Government's Rural Community Led Local Development programme.

The scheme is open until 11th August 2024.

Grants between £10,000 and £49,999 are available throughout Aberdeenshire (excluding the Cairngorms area) and applications are invited from:

  • Community groups
  • Public sector organisations
  • Charities
  • Co-operatives

Funding is targeted towards capital expenditure which can be delivered before 28th February 2025, and supports one or more of the following priorities:

  • Low carbon community buildings
  • Active and connected communities

A minimum 10% match funding contribution to projects by applicants is desirable but not essential.

How to apply

Applicants must provide the following as part of their application:

  • Constitution or memorandum and articles of association
  • A recent bank statement covering a period of 3 months
  • Most recent 3 years' annual accounts
  • Equalities policy
  • Other organisational policies if relevant, for example health and safety, child protection, environmental
  • Valid lease or title deeds (where there is a lease please provide landlord’s permission to carry out works)
  • Planning Permission Approval letter if relevant (if planning permission is not required then evidence of this must be provided)
  • Building Warrant Approval letter if relevant (if this is not required then evidence of this must be provided)
  • Relevant insurance policies and certificates if relevant
  • Evidence that match funding is in place
  • Quotes for every cost item

What happens after

Submissions will be assessed and approved by the Aberdeenshire Local Action Group (LAG), a cross-sector partnership which represents rural communities throughout Aberdeenshire.
