A Local Government By-Election will be held on Thursday, 7th November 2024 to fill a vacancy in the following wards:
- Ward 3 - Fraserburgh and District
- Ward 4 - Central Buchan
- Ward 19 - Mearns

Poll cards and letters were dispatched to Royal Mail on Tuesday, 8th October 2024.
Register to vote
You can register to vote by 12 midnight on Tuesday 22nd October 2024.
Postal votes
You can apply for a postal vote, or update or cancel an existing one by 5pm on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.

In Ward 3, Fraserburgh and District - five candidates are contesting the by-election as follows:
- Sandy Leslie (Scottish Liberal Democrats)
- Mike McDonald (Scottish National Party)
- Conrad Ritchie (Reform UK)
- Dawn Smith (Scottish Family Party)
- Iain Sutherland (Scottish Conservatives)
In Ward 4, Central Buchan - six candidates are contesting the by election as follows:
- Ian Bailey (Scottish Liberal Democrats)
- Peter Chapman (Scottish Conservatives)
- Andrew Curwen (Reform UK)
- Phil Reynolds (Scottish Family Party)
- Dean Ward (Independent)
- Sarah Wilken (Scottish National Party)
In Ward 19, Mearns - five candidates are contesting the by-election as follows:
- Isobel Knights (Scottish Liberal Democrats)
- Claudia Leith (Reform UK)
- William Linegar (Scottish Greens)
- Hannah Scott (Scottish National Party)
- Tracey Smith (Scottish Conservatives)
